Pentecostal Theology in Africa

Pentecostal Christianity can stem the tide of Islamic Terrorism and Radicalism in our world. The world’s Muslim population is expected to increase by about 35% in the next 20 years, rising from 1.6 billion in 2010 to 2.2 billion by 2030, according to recent population projections by the Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life. Alongside this surge in the number of Muslims is the alarming proliferation of Islamic radicalism and terrorism around the globe. The world is divided in responding to the rise of global Islam, with views ranging from Islam as a religion that promulgates violence to Islam as a religion of peace that should be separated from those who conduct acts of terror. As Islam is spreading, so is Pentecostal Christianity, which is by far the fastest-growing segment of the Christian faith worldwide. This growth is largely represented in the global South where Muslims and Christians are increasingly living in tension. A Pentecostal response to Islam has rarely, if ever, been considered. In this book, Dr. Clifton Clarke considers the Pentecostal distinctives that could possibly provide a fresh starting point for engaging with Muslims in our post-9/11 world.
